"If it (the money) is derived from one man's pocket to influence the views of the delegates, the people's views will be besieged," Ms Zedriga says
Dr Sabiti Makara, a senior lecturer in the department of political science and public administration at Makerere University, points out that the former PM, who was asked by NRM's Central Executive Committee to go on leave, is increasingly being isolated.

The events leading to the conference have ensured Mr Mbabazi's would-be supporters are struck off the list of those invited to attend the one-day delegates' conference, he observes.

"It will be Museveni's show; I don't think Mr Mbababzi will be standing for anything except for representing the people of Kinkizi West. I don't think there will be any problem in the delegates' conference because Mbabazi has been manipulated prior [to the conference]," Dr Makara says.

He, however, sounds a warning: "President Museveni and his supporters ought to have a strategy after Namboole because if they scrap the position of the secretary general -- which is likely -- without following the proper procedure, Mbabazi is likely to take them to court."
